I recently received this inquiry.
Someone emailed me a few days ago and asked where the civil war regiments were organized. He thought it was a park or somewhere in the city. He served as a General for the Wisconsin Volunteers, also known as the Iron Brigade, during the Civil War.
Charles King (1844-1933), son of Rufus King, was also graduate of West Point. He served in the U.S. Army in the Indian Wars of the American West and as a General in the Philippines during the Philippine Insurrection. Later, he served in Wisconsin as the Adjutant General ended his military career as an instructor at St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin.
Charles King died in Milwaukee in March of 1933 and is buried at Forest Home Cemetery. His son Rufus and grandson Charles both graduated from St. John’s Military Academy, and both had accomplished military careers.

WIRoots.org is undergoing a redo. That is my site I have for Wisconsin Genealogy. I will be further partnering with the WisNetwork.com and enhancing the resources on each county page.
If you have any Wisconsin links such as family tree links, resources, Genealogical Societies, Historical Societies or Musuems…anything of historical value that might be helpful to genealogists, please let me know and I will tell you how you can get the link added to the WisRoots.org.
