Cemetery Tombstone Photographers Wanted
If anyone has a digital camera, some rechargeable batteries and the time, I sure would like to get more photos. Pick a cemetery and go for it. I usually take a long photo of the tall stones then immediately take close ups of the inscriptions so I know what tall stone goes with which inscriptions. One of those dummy credit cards everyone gets in the mail are good for scraping the moss off the words, and some pencils for going over letters that are hard to read really helps to decipher the stone when I get the pics home (don’t forget a pocket pencil sharpener). Even a few letters are helpful to figure out who belongs with the stone. When you get home, unload the camera and just email me the pics. 4 or 5 to an email is fine, unless you have dial-up then a couple to an email will leave your computer quicker. I have high-speed so it makes no difference to me. I’ll take them from there. It’s summer, so we need to get what we can as long as it’s cool enough that you don’t get overheated.
Let Shari know if you are going to do one of the Manitowoc cemeteries or Ellen know if you are going to do a Milwaukee or Waukesha County Cemetery, so they can coordinate efforts and don’t get a lot of duplicates.
It is even helpful if you can only do a few at a time.
