North Prairie Cemetery

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Forgot to let you know of the additions online for Prairie Cemetery. Dee Dee has been transcribing the records directly from the cemetery and we are putting them online. I have put up the east section, the center section and now she is working on the west section.

There are cemetery records 1899-date. A fire unfortunately destroyed the earlier records. At the Association office, there are some obituaries tacked on to the back of the index card. Dee Dee can get those for you if you are interested. You can contact her directly from the lookup page. After she finishes with a couple other cemeteries in the area, she will come back to getting the obits online from the association office. We thought it would be better to get more area names online than to rehash the same ones.

Thanks Dee Dee for all you are doing for Waukesha County!

Forgot to mention this is cemeter 44 she is working on.

Wisconsin State Industrial School for Boys

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Over the years, many have asked about the State Industrial School for Boys.

I contacted the Waukesha Historical Society to find out what records they may have.

Our collection contains individual records for the Wisconsin State
Industrial School for Boys from 1906 to 1923.

–Volume 1: Reports on individual students 1906-1909

–Volume 2: Reports on individual students 1920

–Volume 3: Reports on individual students 1921

–Volume 4: Reports on individual students 1922

–Volume 5: Reports on individual students 1923

They also suggested that since the school was a state school, perhaps contact the Wisconsin Historical Society (www.WisconsinHistory.org) to find out if they have any additional records.

I also have some history on my site at:

Hope this helps!

Manitowoc County Deaths

I just split a bunch of files, so if some don’t work, click refresh on your browser and it will pull up the new files and not just get the page out of your history. If anyone finds something out of alphabetical order, or a picture missing with just a little red X showing, let me know and I’ll fix it. So many steps are involved in putting on a photo it’s easy to miss one, and sometimes I get alphabetical order burn-out causing me to mis-file. Added newer (after 1920) obits for: Clarence DeGodt #32, Olive Huinker #32, Michael Deprey #32, Charlotte Dodge #32, Kenneth Dodge #32, Robert Lambert #43, (more…)

Waukesha Additions-Randall, Industrial School

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

We have a new helper on the site, Barb has graciously agreed to type up items for the Waukesha site. I hope to keep her busy with various additions for as long as she is willing to help.

Yesterday she sent in a transcript of an early article on Alexander Randall, the 6th Governor of Wisconsin. I have put it in the family section with a link to the bio. Names include: BEACH, VAN VECHTEN, THOMAS, and RANDALL.

She also typed up a small article on the Industrial school that I added to the bottom of the industrial School page.

Thanks Barb! We appreciate your help.
