Milwaukee Cemeteries
Wednesday, June 28th, 2006Waukesha Site Changes
Sunday, June 25th, 2006You may get to the homepage of the site and find a whole bunch of stuff is missing. I have spent the last couple days reorganizing the site. Partially because people complained they couldn’t find things, also because I wanted to see if a reorganization will help in the search engines. I am hoping creating pages that are targeted completely at one subject will help.
I have also added more resources, links and how tos in various sections.
Be sure to check it out! Feel free to give me your feedback or ask if you can’t find something.
Wisconsin Tuberculosis Sanatoriums
Sunday, June 18th, 2006I recently received an inquiry asking me if the Pewaukee Sanatorium was an insane asylum or a TB Hospital. Not knowing the answer, I started to do some research. I eventually discovered it was a TB Sanatorium.
In my research I discovered the state Tuberculosis hospital was located in Wales, Waukesha County.
I was also able to come up with a wealth of information on Tuberculosis Sanatoriums in the entire state of Wisconsin circa 1905-1919.

In this section you will find:
List of TB Sanatoriums 1916
List of TB Sanatoriums 1919 (with more recent facilities (after 1919) listed at the bottom)
Background of TB In Wisconsin
Criteria for Selecting a TB Hospital Location
Feel free to link to it as appropriate. If you have any other information or photos you would like to add feel free to contact me.
Milwaukee and Waukesha Cemeteries
Saturday, June 17th, 2006My focus will be on cemeteries for the next few weeks, perhaps entirely through the summer. I would like to see if I can find more on the histories of some of the cemeteries. I have been having good luck so far, just looking online. There are a few obscure cemeteries I know nothing about, so I am hoping I come across at least a tidbit of information for them.
The past few days I updated all the cemeteries. Mostly I optimized the text for the search engines. I noticed the pages weren’t as high on the search lists so I did a little tweaking so when you people search for a certain cemetery you find it.
I updated a few cemeteries too, but forgot to keep track of which ones I added interments to. Use the search feature on the site for your surname. If it is there it should come up in the list.
Even More Milwaukee Cemeteries
Wednesday, June 14th, 2006I added more listings to the Milwaukee cemeteries
044, 003, 045, 039, 050, 017
To make it a bit easier I am also going to list the name:
Graceland, Holy Sepulcher, Green Tree Meadoes (just a brief history), Evergreen, Lincoln Memorial (Wanderers Rest), Memorial United Methodist
I have been trying to boost up the listings in the cemeteries as much as I can. The cemeteries are so large, it is difficult to get all of the dead without the actual cemetery records. If anyone has access to genealogy libraries or archives and would want to transcribe data, let me know. There is a lot of data available, just not enough time to complete it all.
More Milwaukee Cemeteries
Monday, June 12th, 2006New Cemeteries Added
Sunday, June 11th, 2006In adding the Latitude and Longitude to the cemetery listing this morning, I came across a new cemetery in Greenfield. Greenfield Park. It is located right near the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad tracks Between Greenfield golf course and Greenfield Park. I don’t know if it is still in existance or called something different now. It is a nice day. I am going to try and find it and see if I can gain entrance for transcribing the tombstones if they are still present.
I added a bunch more Ks to the same cemeteries as yesterday.
I also started adding the transcriptions of another new cemetery. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran. This cemetery is actually located in Ozaukee county about 8 blocks north of the county line. I have included it because some Town of Milwaukee residents are buried here.
